Ruby on Rails Developer

Salary: £25k to £38k dependent on experience

Llama Digital is currently looking for a Ruby on Rails developer. You will be working on our own Situate platform – which allows venues to create and manage their own location-aware apps (using iBeacons and GPS). You will also be working on other Ruby on Rails client projects. Situate montage You will be joining a team at an exciting time. We are winners in the Smart Lab programme (a partnership between Sheffield City Council, both Sheffield universities, and Ferrovial). Our solution is to use Situate to help residents of Sheffield and visitors to discover, and engage with, the cultural opportunities on offer. This includes museums, galleries, music events and more. We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

  • Ruby on Rails
  • MySQL
  • PostgreSQL
  • Javascript
  • 2+ years experience in RoR development
  • Degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred

We use a range of other technologies as well that you will have the opportunity to learn if you are not already familiar with them.

  • Modern Javascript (ES2015)
  • iOS and Android development
  • React JS, node.js, grunt
  • git, github, Capistrano, Ansible
  • Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Amazon AWS (EC2 / ELB / S3 / RDS)
  • iBeacons

You will be part of a supportive and skilled team that will be keen to share knowledge with you and learn from the skills that you will bring. We are active in local tech user groups and regularly participate in hackathons such as HackManchester, Hack the City and Startup Weekends.
